Pratt & Whitney // R2800
CGI & Post
As part of the Cloudmaster DC-6 project we needed to include the Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double-wasp-twin row, 18-cylinder, air-cooled radial aircraft engine. The R-2800 is considered one of the premier radial piston engines ever designed, and is notable for its widespread use in many important American aircraft during and after World War II.
Given the quality and intricacy of the Pratt & Whitney engine, we decided to use it for an in-house proof of concept. We re-textured the engine model, created a 3d environment and lit and rendered several still images, some of which have been composited to look like they were produced in the engines heyday.
We have used this project in various marketing images and created a short animation which features in our showreel.
